GeoCaching Basics!

GeoCaching- where YOU are the search engine!

Is that a bird in the tree? OR, is it a cache container?

Does it sound like fun to use a GPS unit to locate a hidden container? The container might be in the woods, in a town park, or right in front of your nose-- you need the Longitude and Latitude of the cache container, a sense of fun and a willingness to think out of the box! GeoCachers agree to a set of basic rules and regulations concerning types of containers, locations of containers, safety of container location, and GeoCacher behaviors while searching for caches. Read below to learn more!

What is GeoCaching?

How to you find a Cache?

Travel Bugs:

Launch an official GeoCaching "dog tag" (aka: travel bug) to a toy or other item and send him out for a journey. This Travel Bug (TB) will travel from cache container to cache container. You can set a goal for the TB to obtain or just send it for a journey.

Geo-Cacher University (pretend) Resources

USGS: Earth Caching ideas: An Earthcache is a special place that people can visit to learn about a unique geoscience feature or aspect of our Earth. Earthcaches include a set of educational notes and the details about where to find the location (latitude and longitude). Visitors to Earthcaches can see how our planet has been shaped by geological processes, how we manage the resources and how scientists gather evidence to learn about the Earth.
